Super-long cloud evolution

Had the day off today sorting out C's birthday presents, etc. While wrapping these in the afternoon, I set up a cloud time-lapse ...

The camera initially estimated that its memory card had enough space for about 1700 low resolution frames, but I never stopped to check how it was doing and in the end it managed to take 3800. I guess skies that are mostly blue can be compressed pretty seriously. Anyway, though the movie is overlong (and periodically interrupted by birds), I still like the mesmerising result.

It would be cool to set that up as a screen saver. Very nice, especially for me in the SF summer days when the sky is one color (hint: not blue)

Actually, that's a good idea. I'll have to see if that's possible.

What colour is the sky over SF at the moment? It's not gone the way of LA has it?

Anyway, hope you're out making the most of the sky - are you on your summer break from the kids yet?

At the very moment the sky over my part of San Francisco is white with a chance of blue sky. The Sunset district of SF is notoriously foggy and cold.

I've not quite gotten to have all the summer I've wanted, but I did have a nice long walk on the beach last night and met someone collecting fossils. Today I've been grading (I've picked up some summer teaching hours) and in a few minutes, I'm going to put Echo Apsley back into his cage (I'm rat sitting for Cathy) and get to some projects.

I must admit to being envious of your fog. We have it only rarely here, but I love it. I remember watching the fog with you in SF, seeing it as it an almost living thing flowing over the coastal hills. That said, I imagine the charm wears a little thin after the n-th summer day spent chilled by it though!

Anyhow, I hope the summer teaching still leaves you time to do other stuff along the way. Fossil hunting now suggests itself by the sounds of things! What's the age of the rocks out SF-way? We've got the so-called "Jurassic Coast" out to the west of us here.
